Something a little different

Almost everything I share on my blog is made using Stampin’ Up! products only apart from the occasional tool I might use such as Nestabilities in a card here and there. I love Stampin’ Up! and their products but sometimes it’s nice to use other things too. About 12 months or so ago I purchased a few Copic Markers locally but due to the price of them and me wondering whether or not I’d use them I didn’t buy any more.

If you follow Makeesha Byl’s blog at all you might recall not too long ago she purchased some Copic Markers. After seeing her lovely creations and how she combined them with SU products I decided to take the plunge and purchase some more myself, and then some more, and maybe a few more…lol. Of course I then had to purchase some stamps from Stamping Bella and also some Sugar Nellie stamps too to use with my new Copics.

Since joining Stampin’ Up! back in June 2006 I don’t think I’ve spent much money at all on anything bar SU products so this was a bit unusual for me but I think it was just what I needed. I’m in the process of making some changes to my SU business so the past 2 months have been a bit different for me and my enthusiasm has died a little. Doing something a little different is helping get me back on track.

The card I’m going to show you today, and the one tomorrow, where both made a few weeks back. I’ve been a bit slack with photographing and editing the pictures to share with you all. Hopefully I’ll be back on track soon with more regular posts and I sure hope you don’t mind seeing a combination of SU and other items in some of my posts.

Today’s card layout was a past Bella Sketch. I’m still not sure if it’s missing something though. I just feel the bottom right corner is a bit bare (picture the watermark not there) but I can’t work out what I could put there. Maybe it’s just me. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Imeldabella 1

I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous Raspberry Tart DSP as I love the colours in it. The stamp is Imeldabella which I just had to have after my good friend recently had a shoe splurge. Now how many pairs did she buy? 10 or was it 12? Maybe it was more? It was during a sale though, so why not. After all ‘it’s a girl thing’….

Supplies:
SU Items-
Stamps:Sanded
Card: Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink, Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink: Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Flower Designer Brads, Stamp-a-ma-jig
Non-SU items-
Stamps: Imeldabella, It’s a Girl Thing (Stamping Bella)
Card: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers

Nikki I like the idea of using products other than SU afterall we've all got heaps of other stuff & seeing what you do with your 'other' products is inspiring.

Hi Nikki, I'm blaming Makeesha on my Copic marker 'obession'. After reading on her blog that she had bought some, I started looking around for a local supplier at a reasonable price. I too didn't want to get too many in case I didn't like them. I started off with 6, which quickly grew to 14, which grew to 62 which grew to 72 after my last order arrived today. I've purchased most of mine from the RMIT Bookshop and I bought 24 from an Ebay seller - TW Markers. Feel free to email me if you'd like the details of what I paid for them.

I can see where you are coming from in that you think the card needs something in the bottom right, but I think it would unbalance it and it would be not right if you did add something, making it too much on the irght. So I think the gorgeous card is left the way it is. Must get my Bella stamps out..
